The Business Civic Leadership Center (BCLC) is calling for nominations for the 9th annual Corporate Citizenship Awards. Entries will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 27. Awards will be given in these categories:
- U.S. Community Service Award
- International Community Service Award
- Partnership Award
- Corporate Stewardship Awards for Small/Midsize Business
- Corporate Stewardship Awards for Large Business

IBM Institute for Business Value Report: "Attaining Sustainable Growth through Corporate Social Responsibility."
The study evaluates how well companies understand and manage CSR expectations, as well as outlines steps along the "value curve" that companies can follow to strategically align their CSR objectives to its core business strategy. According to the report, maximum benefit from the CSR opportunity takes place when all activities on the value curve - legal and compliance, strategic philanthropy, values-based self-regulation, efficiency and growth - become integrated into a cohesive strategy with leadership driven as much from employees, customers and business partners as from the CEO and senior executives. Online CSR Strategic Planning Tool
The GLN OpenAccess tool, available at www.gln-openaccess.org, is an interactive self-assessment and planning platform to help companies align corporate citizenship with business strategy. New Report on Global Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Communications
Transparency in communications is a key indicator of a socially responsible company – more important than philanthropy or NGO partnerships – according to a new corporate responsibility and sustainability communications report (click here to download). The report was developed by Edelman in collaboration with the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship, Net Impact and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.

Financial Times: Walmart Overhauls its Charity Spending
Wal-Mart, one of the biggest corporate charitable donors in the US, is overhauling how it gives its money to ensure philanthropic efforts are more closely linked to its brand positioning.

A group of Fortune 500 companies pledged to commit a total of more than $110 million in pro-bono services to nonprofits at the recent Summit on Corporate Volunteerism in New York.
