Salk Institute Tax Seminar on Private Foundations: SDG Discount

The Salk Institute for Biological Studies has offered SDG members a special discount on this upcoming seminar. The first 10 SDG members to respond will receive a $200 discount (bringing the cost down to $595 for the event). The seminar will cover the impact of proposed legislative changes, current problems faced by foundation managers, and question & answers with nationally recognized tax lawyers.

Northern California Grantmakers Education Opportunities

NCG has two upcoming opportunities: one for new grantmakers, and one for corporate members:

"Essential Skills and Strategies for New Grantmakers"
Thursday and Friday, April 27 - 28, 2006

NCG is offering their new pilot program "Essential Skills and Strategies for New Grantmakers" to SDG members at the NCG member rate of $275.00 (includes registration, breakfast, lunch, and program materials). Part one of a two-part program for new grantmakers created through a partnership between the Council on Foundations and the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers. Essential Skills & Strategies for New Grantmakers will help participants build a framework for ethical and effective grantmaking that identifies the key decisions, expectations, and core tensions of their role; develop a network of peers; and become familiar with other resources to support their continued professional development. The workshop is designed to help professionals with less than two years in philanthropy.
