SDGrantmakers Member Services

Did you know that your SDGrantmakers membership entitles you to discounted rates on some very valuable products and services? See the details below for a listing of these products and information on how you can take advantage of these cost-saving discounts.

Library of Sample Documents
Learning from other foundations is one of the most valuable resources SDGrantmakers has to offer. And what better way to learn than to have access to the forms, policies and procedures of other foundations? The Library of Sample Documents is one of our member resources. The extensive list of sample documents covers a broad range, from job descriptions to board policies to financial statements.

To learn more about this member service or to request a sample document please call us at 619/744-2180 or email nancy@sdgrantmakers.org.

Directors & Officers Liability Insurance
With the increased governmental scrutiny on the philanthropic and nonprofit sector, many experts strongly recommend that foundations carry Directors & Officers Insurance to protect both trustees and the foundation. Through an arrangement with the Council on Foundations (www.cof.org), San Diego Grantmakers is pleased to offer its member foundations access to a discounted Directors & Officers Liability Insurance Coverage program. The plan was carefully crafted by John A. Edie, former Senior Vice President and Counsel, Council on Foundations.

If you are a SDGrantmakers member foundation and would like more information about this discounted Directors & Officers Insurance package, or if you would like to apply online, please go to http://cof.npo-ins.com/. If you have questions, please contact Jane Nober at the Council on Foundations at 800/432-7465 or via email at info@cof.npo-ins.com. SDGrantmakers is delighted to be partnering with the Council on Foundations to bring this benefit to its members.

Regional Association Guest Membership
This service extends member rates on programs to board members of grantmaking institutions that are members of one regional association but who live in an area served by a different regional association. For example, a trustee of a family foundation that belongs to San Diego Grantmakers lives in Connecticut (a state in which the family foundation makes no grants). That board member would be eligible to participate in programs at the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy. In return a trustee of a CCP member who lives in San Diego would receive similar benefits.

The benefit of this program lies in the peer network that is created by the participating board members. The attending board member learns about another region's philanthropic experience while sharing (and comparing) his/her own perspective with a wider audience.

For more information contact San Diego Grantmakers at 619/744-2180 or nancy@sdgrantmakers.org.
