Northern California Grantmakers would like to extend a special invitation for members to attend
Take Action! summit October 5 – 7, 2009. This invitation–only, three–day Take Action! summit facilitates peer conversations among industry leaders and trustees, CFOs and investment staff of foundations, family offices, pension funds, and corporations. Foundation staff, leadership and trustees are invited to come together to discuss impact investing, that is, investments that create financial returns and social and environmental impact. The Summit focuses exclusively on those investments that create market-rate and/or premium returns. Case studies will be presented on the following topics: environment/climate change, community economic development, education, health, human rights, and international microfinance. The Summit will cover practical topics such as:
- achieving buy-in from both Boards and staff to move forward with impact investing;
- creation and execution of an impact investment portfolio;
- measuring social and environmental impact; and,
- doing due diligence on investments.
Leading practitioners and global financial experts share their candid experiences and engage in pointed conversations about the unresolved and debated issues and its potential evolution. During the event, participants are empowered to make decisions, explore partnerships, and Take Action!
